ABSTRACT

There are 42 higher projects in assistive technology services, 26 projects in assistive technology, and more than 20 projects in prosthetic orthotics in the United States, as retrieved from the internet. Graduate certification, master's degree and doctor's degree with emphasis on assistive technology are the main forms. The curriculum of assistive technology in the United States has reached a relatively mature level. The mandatory requirements and economic guarantee of the use of assistive technology by laws and policies in the United States are important background factors for the development of education. At present, there are four higher education programs about assistive technology service, six projects in assistive technology devices, and five projects in prosthetic orthotics in China. China also needs to develop the higher education of assistive technology, and also looks forward to more powerful support of policies and regulations on the utilization of assistive technology.

ABSTRACT

Background@#There was still conflict on the antithrombotic advantage of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel among East Asian population with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). We considered that the baseline bleeding risk might be an undetected key factor that significantly affected the efficacy of ticagrelor.@*Methods@#A total of 20,816 serial patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from October 2011 to August 2014 in the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region were enrolled in the present study. Patients receiving ticagrelor or clopidogrel were further subdivided according to basic bleeding risk. The primary outcome was net adverse clinical events (NACEs) defined as major adverse cardiac or cerebral events (MACCE, including all-cause death, myocardial infarction, ischemia-driven target vessel revascularization, or stroke) and any bleeding during 1-year follow-up. Comparison between ticagrelor and clopidogrel was adjusted by propensity score matching (PSM).@*Results@#Among the 20,816 eligible PCI patients who were included in this study, there were 1578 and 779 patients in the clopidogrel and ticagrelor groups, respectively, after PSM, their clinical parameters were well matched. Patients receiving ticagrelor showed comparable NACE risk compared with those treated by clopidogrel (5.3% vs. 5.1%, P = 0.842). Furthermore, ticagrelor might reduce the MACCE risk in patients with low bleeding risk but increase MACCE in patients with moderate-to-high bleeding potential (ticagrelor vs. clopidogrel, low bleeding risk: 2.5% vs. 4.9%, P = 0.022; moderate-to-high bleeding risk: 4.8% vs. 3.0%, P = 0.225; interaction P = 0.021), with vast differences in all bleeding (low bleeding risk: 1.5% vs. 0.8%, P = 0.210; moderate-to-high bleeding risk: 4.8% vs. 3.0%, P = 0.002; interaction P = 0.296).@*Conclusion@#Among real-world Chinese patients with ACS treated by PCI, ticagrelor only showed superior efficacy in patients with low bleeding risk but lost its advantage in patients with moderate-to-high bleeding potential.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To compare pattern-pulse multifocal visual evoked potential (PPmfVEP) with pattern-reversal multifocal visual evoked potential (PRmfVEP), and to investigate the symmetry of mfVEP between both eyes in normal individuals.@*METHODS@#The multifocal Vision Monitor was used to observe the mfVEP. T-test and ANOVA were used to analyze P1 wave, amplitude and signal noise ratios (SNR) of two mfVEPs.@*RESULTS@#The SNR and the P1 amplitude reached the maximum at the central visual field and decreased with the increase of eccentricity, and then decreased slowly. The amplitude of the PPmfVEP was significantly smaller than the PRmfVEP in the central retina, while in the peripheral retina the result was exactly the opposite. SNR and amplitude of the PRmfVEP showed no statistical difference in both eyes (P > 0.05). The variance of the amplitude at the same side of visual field was larger than that at the symmetrical visual quadrant.@*CONCLUSION@#mfVEP can reflect the visual function in different parts of retina objectively and exactly. PPmfVEP reflect the vision function of the central retina better than PRmfVEP. The stability of PPmfVEP is better than PRmfVEP in the central retina, while the result is opposite in the peripheral retina. The mfVEP is symmetrical in both eyes of the same individual.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the diagnostic values of interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) for the patients with acute leukemia (AL).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 76 cases of AL were enrolled in this study, and the 40 healthy persons were used as control group. The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results were analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ in the untreated AL group, ALL and ANLL groups were lower significantly than those in the control group (P<0.05), there was no significant difference between untreated AL and ANLL groups (P>0.05). The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ in CR patients of AL group after treatment obviously higher than that of patients before treatment (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference as campared with that in control. The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ in NR patients of AL group after treatment were obviously lower than that in control group (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in comparision with patients before treatment (P>0.05). The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ of AL-CR and AL-NR patients before treatment were not significant difference before treatment (P>0.05). The levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ of AL-CR patients obviously higher than that in AL-NR patients (P<0.05). According to immure classification, the levels of IL-12 and IFN-γ of patients in untreated group were not significant difference. In regard to the clinical risk degree, the level of IL-12 of patients in untreated group was not obvious difference (P>0.05), but the level of IFN-γ of patients in untreated group was obvious different (P<0.05). The level of IL-12 of patients in untreated group positively correlated with level of IFN-γ (r=0.735, P<0.05), but the level of IL-12 did not significantly correlated with the level of IFN-γ (r=0.292, P>0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The serum levels of both IL-12 and IFN-γ are lower, but the changes of both serum levels may be helpful to diagnose and treatment of AL patients.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the effects of Danlou Tablet (DT) on inflammatory reaction, and expressions of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (LP-PLA2), secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2), and to analyze potential mechanisms.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty male Wistar rats were randomly and equally divided into five groups, i.e., the normal control group, the model group, the Western medicine (WM) group, the low dose DT group, the high dose DT group, 8 in each group. Rats in the normal control group were fed with basic forage for 12 successive weeks, while AS rat model was established in rats of the other four groups by feeding high fat and sugar forage plus intraperitoneal injection of vitamin D₃. Normal saline, atorvastatin calcium suspension (at the daily dose of 1.8 mg/kg), low dose DT suspension (at the daily dose of 450 mg/kg), and high dose DT suspension (at the daily dose of 900 mg/kg) were administered to rats in the model group, the WM group, the low dose DT group, the high dose DT group respectively by gastragavage for 8 successive weeks. The general condition of all rats was observed. Rats were sacrificed after gastric administration and their serum collected. Serum levels of lipids (TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) and inflammatory factors [IL-6, TNF-α, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (LP-PLA2), secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2)] were detected. Pathological changes of thoracic aorta were observed by HE staining. Protein and gene expressions of LP-PLA2 and sPLA2 in thoracic aorta were measured by Western blot and real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR respectively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the normal control group, rats in the model group were in low spirits and responded poorly. Typical atherosclerotic plaque could be seen in thoracic aorta of rats in the model group. Serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, IL-6, TNF-α, MCP-1, ox-LDL, LP-PLA2, and sPLA2 significantly increased (P < 0.05); protein and gene expressions of LP-PLA2 and sPLA2 in rat thoracic aorta increased (P < 0.05) in the model group. After 8 weeks of intervention, rats in 3 medication groups appeared active, and HE staining showed subsidence of plaque in rat thoracic aorta. Compared with the model group, serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, IL-6, TNF-α, MCP-1, ox-LDL, and LP-PLA2 decreased in 3 medication groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05); serum sPLA2 level decreased, protein and mRNA expressions of LP-PLA2 and sPLA2 in rat thoracic aorta decreased in the WM group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05); protein and mRNA expressions of LP-PLA2 in rat thoracic aorta significantly decreased in the low dose DT group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), and those of LP-PLA2 and sPLA2 decreased in the high dose DT group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>DT could fight against inflammatory reaction and AS possibly through inhibiting LP-PLA2 expression and reducing ox-LDL production.</p>

ABSTRACT

To systematically evaluate the efficiency and safety of Shenfu injection in treating patients with angina pectoris. Retrievals were made in Embase, Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Clinical Trials.gov, CNKI, CBM, VIP and Wanfang (before September 2015) for randomized or semi-randomized controlled trials reporting data of Shenfu injection in the adjuvant treatment of angina pectoris. The quality of included trials was evaluated according to tool evaluation at cochrane.org. STATA version 12.0 was applied for Meta analysis after quality assessment of included studies. Finally, a total of 17 studies, including 16 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 1 controlled clinical trial (CCT) involving 1 309 patients, met the inclusion criteria, of which 659 patients received Shenfu injection treatment. Meta-analysis results showed that Shenfu injection treatment group significantly improved angina pectoris symptoms (OR=3.38, 95%CI: 2.47-4.64, P=0.000) and ischemic ST-T changes in electrocardiogram (OR=3.30, 95%CI: 2.22-4.90, P=0.000), compared with control group. In the Meta-regression analysis, the average age of patients was positively correlated with the improved clinical (β=0.17) and electrocardiogram (β=1.15) efficacies. Major complication rate of Shenfu injection was 3.4%, and no serious adverse events were reported. Current clinical evidence in this study proved that Shenfu injection could significantly improve clinical symptoms and ECG ischemic changes for angina pectoris patients, with a good safety.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe anti-atherosclerotic effect of Xuefu Zhuyu Granule (XZU) and Danlou Tablet (DT) on blood lipids, platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation, extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signal pathway in atherosclerosis (AS) model rats, and to explore their potential mechanisms.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups, i.e., the normal control group, the model group, the Atorvastatin group, the DT group, the XZG group, 8 in each group. Rats in the normal control group were fed with basic forage for 12 weeks, while rats in the other four groups were fed with high fat forage plus intraperitoneal injection of vitamin D3 to build AS model. Then rats in the model control group, the Atorvastatin group, the DT group, the XZG group were administered with normal saline, Atorvastatin suspension (0.18 mg/mL), DT suspension (45 mg/mL), and XZG (1 g/mL) by gastrogavage for 8 successive weeks, respectively. After intervention serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, and PDGF were detected by ELISA. Pathological changes in thoracic aorta were observed by HE staining. Protein expression levels of ERK1/2 and pERK1/2 in thoracic aorta were measured by Western blot.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the normal group, serum TC, TG, LDL-C, PDGF levels, and expression levels of ERK1/2 and pERK1/2 significantly increased (P <0. 05) in the model control group. HE staining showed irregular intimal thickness, accumulated endothelial foam cells, lipids deposited, disarranged media VSMCs, forming typical AS plaque. Compared with the model group, TC and PDGF levels decreased in all medicated groups (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Serum levels of TG and LDL-C significantly decreased in the Atorvastatin group and the DT group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Expressions of ERK1/2 and pERK1/2 significantly decreased in the Atorvastatin group, the DT group, and the XZG group (P < 0.01). HE staining also showed typical AS plaque in three medicated groups, but with reduced pathological degree of endometrial hyperplasia and plaque area.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>XZG and DT could reduce the plaque area and attenuate pathological degree of AS in model rats, thereby postponing the progress of AS. Its mechanism might be achieved through reducing serum lipids and release of PDGF, inhibiting ERK signal pathway activation and VSMC proliferation.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the anti-angiogenic effect of cryptotanshinone (CPT) on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and the effect of CPT on Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>HUVECs were incubated with 0, 2.5, 5, 10, and 20 μ mol/L CPT for detecting cell viability with dimethyl thiazolyl-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Then, HUVECs were incubated with 0, 2.5, 5, and 10 μ mol/L CPT for detecting endothelial cell migration, invasion, and tubular-like structure formation with wound healing, transwell invasion and matrigel tube formation assays, respectively. To gain insight into CPT-mediated signaling, the effects of CPT on T-cell factor/lymphocyte enhancer factor (TCF/LEF) transcription factors were detected by the Dual-luciferase reporter assay. Next, the nuclear expression of β-catenin was evaluated using Western blot and immunochemistry. Finally, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and cyclin D1, downstream proteins of the Wnt pathway were examined with Western blot.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>CPT dose-dependently suppressed endothelial cell viability, migration, invasion, and tubular-like structure formation. In particular, CPT blocked β-catenindependent transcription in HUVECs in a dose-dependent manner. In Western bolt, 10 μ mol/L CPT decreased expression of β-catenin in nucleus of HUVECs (P<0.01). In immunohistochemistry, β-catenin was more potent in response to LiCl (an activator of the pathway) treatment. However, the signals were weaker in the nucleus of the CPT (10 μ mol/L) group, compared to the positive control. Also, VEGF and cyclin D1 were both eliminated by CPT in 5 and 10 μ mol/L doses (P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Our study supported the role of CPT as an angiogenic inhibitor, which may impact on the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.</p>

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To find an objective and accurate examination for evaluation of spinal cord injury (SCI) in forensic clinical medicine.@*METHODS@#The onset latency of cortex, peak latency of N1, central motor conduction time (CMCT) and wave width of the abductor pollicis brevis and the anterior tibialis were calculated by transcranial magnetic stimulation-motor evoked potential (TMS-MEP). The data of 68 patients suffered from SCI including 23 cervical levels and 45 thoracolumbar levels were collected and compared with that of 30 normal controls.@*RESULTS@#In experimental group, when the muscle strength of the abductor pollicis brevis or the anterior tibialis decreased or disappeared, the onset latency of cortex, the peak latency of N1, and CMCT prolonged and the wave width broadened. And these indexes of grade 2 and 3 muscle strength in experimental group were higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The TMS-MEP can determine directly and objectively the motor functional status of pyramidal tract of spinal cord in order to provide more accurate and objective evidences in forensic medicine.

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the genetic polymorphism in the 5' and 3' region of TPH2 gene of Northern Chinese Han population and to explore its application value in forensic medicine.@*METHODS@#The sequence variants and the genetic polymorphisms of 6 SNP loci (rs4570625, rs11178997, rs11178998, rs41317118, rs17110747 and rs41317114) within a 905 bp 5' flanking region and a 1,104bp 3' flanking region of TPH2 gene were analyzed by DNA sequencing in a total of 244 unrelated healthy individuals in Northern Chinese Han population. The statistical analysis was carried out by Haploview v4.2 software.@*RESULTS@#The genotypic distributions of the 6 SNP loci in the TPH2 gene were in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. One C/T variant in 92922 site was found. There was a high linkage disequilibrium among the 3 SNP loci (rs4570625, rs11178997 and rs11178998) in the 5' region and the 3 SNP loci (rs41317118, rs17110747 and rs41317114) in the 3' region of TPH2 gene, respectively. The parameters of population genetics of 6 SNP loci were obtained.@*CONCLUSION@#There are great polymorphisms in the 5' and 3' region of TPH2 gene in Northern Chinese Han population, which could be used as genetic indexes for association analysis of the related diseases, as well as for forensic individual identification and paternity testing.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the attitudes on suicide and their related factors among university students in Chongqing.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 9808 students from 11 universities in Chongqing, were chosen under stratified cluster random sampling method and had completed a questionnaire survey through the Scale of Public Attitudes on Suicide(SPAS).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Data showed that the scores of university students having negative or neutral attitudes towards questions including "suicide is not preventable", "suicidal behavior is not controllable or is caused by outside forces" and "suicidal behavior can(or is used to)affect the behavior of others'" were 34.28±16.44, 35.64±19.14 and 36.94±16.05 respectively. The scores of students taking neutral attitude towards questions as:"similarity of attempted and completed suicide", "negative attitudes on the behavior or on the person him/her self", "positive aspects of suicide and positive feelings about suicides"were 47.38±22.01, 51.78±17.05 and 37.77±18.12 respectively but 70.77±17.21 went to the students who had agreed with "suicide is an important social/health problem". Factors as gender, nationality, religion, history of attempted suicide and suicide exposure to others appeared having had important effects on the attitude towards suicide among college students.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>It is necessary to consider above mentioned factors when developing related suicide crisis intervention strategy.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the clinical efficacy of the immediate breast reconstruction following breast-conserving surgery for centrally located breast cancer.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From January of 2006 through December of 2011, 30 women with centrally located breast cancer of stage I or II was treated by breast-conserving surgery removing or not removing the nipple-areola complex. All the patients received immediate breast reconstruction with adjacent gland tissue flap or latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap. The breast shape and complication were observed. All the patients were followed up.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The thirty women underwent the breast-conserving surgery successfully, in which 12 cases received immediate breast reconstruction with adjacent gland tissue flap and 18 cases received immediate breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap. The superior rate of the aesthetic effect was 90% (27/30) according to JCRT in one week or six months after surgery. No recurrence and metastasis were observed after a median follow-up of 38 months ( range 4-72 months).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The immediate breast reconstruction following breast-conserving surgery for centrally located breast cancer at early stage is satisfactory for the aesthetic result and clinical efficacy, and deserves further clinical application.</p>

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze and summarize the characteristics of traumatic macular hole and to discuss the key points and matters need attention in forensic identification.@*METHODS@#Sixteen cases of traumatic macular hole were collected from Forensic Science Identification Center of China Medical University from 2004 to 2009 and analyzed.@*RESULTS@#All of the 16 cases resulted from closed ocular contusion. Traumatic macular hole was more common in young men and may occur immediately after injury or after a certain interval. Six months after injury, there was a spontaneous closure of macular hole in 2 cases and the vision of the injured in 12 cases improved to different degrees. According to the degree of vision dysfunction, 12 cases were identified as slight injury, 4 cases were identified as severe injury.@*CONCLUSION@#Traumatic macular hole has its characteristics. Its injury degree is all slight or severe injury. The time of identification should be within 3-6 months.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the characteristics of forensic identification cases involved with peripheral nerve injury, and to discuss how to apply the clinical information, forensic examination and neurophysiological testing.@*METHODS@#One hundred and fifty-eight cases which were diagnosed peripheral nerve injury in clinic, were collected. Then the individual characteristics, injuries, identification results, exaggeration or camouflage were analysed.@*RESULTS@#The male, the unemployed, and the young and middle-aged were common in our cases. The main reasons of "peripheral nerve injury" were traffic accidents and sharp injuries. Most wounded parts were in limbs. Also the exaggeration and camouflage accounted for a considerable proportion in our cases.@*CONCLUSION@#The forensic identification of "peripheral nerve injury" cases should be evaluated with clinical information, forensic examination and electrophysiological testing comprehensively.

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate diagnostic value of spiral CT reconstruction in atlantoaxial injuries.@*METHODS@#The images of 25 cases of spiral CT reconstruction were analyzed and compared with images of CT scan and X-ray.@*RESULTS@#In 7 cases of odontoid process fracture, X-ray demonstrated 4 cases and CT demonstrated 5 cases, whereas the spiral CT reconstruction diagnosed 7 cases, which could display the displacement of fracture clearly. The X-ray and CT showed asymmetric space between left and right gaps of atlantoaxial joint in 6 cases, while spiral CT reconstruction showed normal and excluded the possibility of atlantoaxial dislocation. There was one case of lateral atlantoaxial joint dislocation, which was demonstrated by the spiral CT reconstruction clearly but not by the X-ray and CT scan. There were 3 cases of atlantoaxial congenital deformity (1 case of absence of both posterior arch of atlas and odontoid process and 2 cases of maldevelopment of the odontoid process), which were displayed clearly by spiral CT reconstruction, but misdiagnosed as odontoid process fracture and atlantoaxial subluxation by X-ray and CT scan.@*CONCLUSION@#Spiral CT reconstruction can provide the most accurate and integrity imaging information and is very useful in the diagnosis of atlantoaxial injuries and deformity.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the role of estrogen in the regulation of the expression of claudin-6 and biological behavior in MCF-7 cells.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>RT-PCR and immunocytochemistry were conducted to analyze the expression and localization of claudin-6 in MCF-7 cells treated with 17β-estradiol. CCK-8 kit assay and Scratch Test were conducted to analyze the capability of proliferation and migration of 17β-estradiol treated MCF-7 cells.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>RT-PCR analysis and immunocytochemistry showed that 17β-estradiol induced a concentration-and time-dependent effect on claudin-6. At 5 nmol/L and at 24 h, 17β-estradiol treatment led to an increased level of claudin-6, which was located in the membrane of MCF-7 cells. CCK-8 analysis showed a significant decrease in the capability of proliferation of MCF-7 cells compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Cells Scratch Test showed decreased migration capability of MCF-7 cells compared with the control group (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>17β-E2 might regulate the expression of claudin-6 and inhibit the proliferation and migration of MCF-7 cells. The inhibitory effects of 17β-E2 on growth and migration of MCF-7 cells may be mediated by claudin-6 expression regulation.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the methods of lesion localization and surgical treatment for non-palpable breast cancer, presented with only small calcification lesion on the images.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From November 2003 to August 2007, 61 patients with non-palpable lesion were finally pathologically diagnosed as early breast cancer (T1-2N0M0), based on the small calcification lesions shown by full field digital mammography (FFDM) through molybdenum target, and the rich blood supply shown by type-B ultrasonic examination. Accurate lesion-localization prior to surgical resection was conducted, and sample re-examination by FFDM was done after resection. Patients with single lesion underwent breast-conserving surgery, precise excision with the aid of image-guided wire localization, and stage I breast reconstruction was performed simultaneously using wide-based gland-tissue flap. Patients with multiple lesions received modified radical mastectomy.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Among the 50 patients treated with breast-conserving surgery, the accuracy of localization for lesions was 100% (50/50), and all lesions were excised completely with a negative margin proven by FFDM re-examination and pathological examination. The superior rate of mammaplasty was 86.0% (43/50) according to JCRT criteria, with a compliance difference of 1.5 cm. Modified radical mastectomy was performed in 11 patients. The follow-up period in this series was from 6 to 58 months with a mean follow-up time of 39 months. Distant metastases were detected in only one patient and local recurrence was not observed yet.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Lesion localization by FFDM in patients with non-palpable breast cancer is accurate and practical. In patients with single lesion, breast-conserving resection followed by synchronous stage I breast reconstruction with wide-based gland-tissue flap is appropriate.</p>

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the clinical characteristics of post-traumatic abortion and the relationship between trauma and abortion.@*METHODS@#We collected and analyzed 23 cases of post-traumatic abortion encountered in the department of clinical forensic medicine, faculty of forensic medicine, China Medical University in recent years.@*RESULTS@#All 23 post-traumatic abort inns were early abortions. Their traumata were mild and external only. Vagina bleeding and abortion occurred shortly after trauma. Most patients were older, from countryside, or unemployed.@*CONCLUSION@#The causes of abortion are complex. Post-traumatic abortion can only be diagnosed after excluding non-traumatic factors. For those cases abortion occur shortly after injuries and non-traumatic factors can not be excluded, trauma should be assessed for its role in abortions as primary, secondary or induction factors correlated with clinical symptoms and pre-

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the relationship between the pink teeth phenomenon and the cause of death as well as its significance in forensic medicine.@*METHODS@#Inspection method was adopted to observe the pink teeth phenomenon in different causes of death. Ten rats were selected for every experimental groups, which were then divided into two groups: Eight in fresh group with teeth pulled immediately, and two in decayed group with body decayed in water firstly. The teeth pulled from rats were immersed in 75% alcohol and observed at different immersion time.@*RESULTS@#In every fresh groups, pink teeth phenomenon was not observed when they were pulled immediately, whereas it emerged gradually after the teeth immersed in 75% alcohol, and the color showed distinct and constant four hours later. In decayed groups, Pink teeth phenomenon was observed immediately when teeth pulled, it became distinct and constant after one hour's immersion in alcohol. So it was more distinctive in the decayed groups than that in the fresh groups.@*CONCLUSION@#There is no significant connection between the pink teeth phenomenon and the cause of death, thus it may not be subject to forensic identification.

OBJECTIVE@#To seek the pathomorphological targets for forensic expertise in anaphylactic shock.@*METHODS@#The expression of IgE in hearts, lungs, livers, spleens, kidneys, gastrics, intestinals, tracheas and tonsils of anaphylactic shock guinea-pigs was observed at 0, 6, 12 h and 24 h respectively by tissue chip S-P immuno-histochemical method.@*RESULTS@#Positive expression of IgE presented in lungs and tracheas in the test group with the peak at 0 hour and it declined as time advanced, and also there were significant differences at different times (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The immuno-histochemical method of detecting the expression of IgE in lungs, tracheas and spleens can be supposed to be the pathomorphological targets for forensic expertise in anaphylactic shock. The weakening of the positive expression of IgE in lungs and tracheas as the time advanced suggested that in this kind of case the autopsy should be arried out as early as possible.
